About Lance

Lance’s day job involves business analysis – and wishing he didn’t have a day job. He enjoys all things tropical – in particular, snorkeling and scuba diving on tropical islands and, when not on a tropical island, propagating coral in his home reef aquariums. Lance appreciates a fine Scotch or Bourbon now and again. And he’s an atheist with snarky side. He maintains “we’re {not} having a baby!” with his wife Amy.

we’re {not} having a baby! does Roatan

The following is a re-post of a piece I wrote for childfreelifeadventures.com a while back. Thanks to Whitney and Paddy! One of the great gifts of being childfree is the ability to travel. As a couple, Amy and I have the mindset that if there’s an opportunity to go somewhere, either for pleasure or work, we’re in. […]

Why being childfree is good for everyone

Welcome to Earth Day 2015 and to reason # 34,967 not to have kids…the environment. We haven’t discussed this aspect of the childfree lifestyle on w{n}hab! as much as some others but it is certainly one of the most positive effects of the choice not to procreate. I think it all began when I was a kid…

We recently received an email, subject line “Thanks for this awesome blog!!!” Normally we ignore anything with less than two or less exclamation points. I mean, if you’re not excited to write us, what’s the point? Right? Anywho, in this case, having three exclamation points, we promptly read the email which came from Claudia in […]

The Road Not Taken

This Childfree Story is brought to us courtesy of Elizabeth Barton and is a re-post from her blog The Lizard Chronicles. Why “The Lizard Chronicles” you ask? Maybe she gets lethargic in cool weather…or it could have something to do with her name. We’ll never know. Either way, enjoy! The Road Not Taken Not long […]

I Didn’t Have a Good Childhood….

Here at w{n}hab! we like to tackle childfree myths. Of course when we say something is a myth what we’re actually saying is that empirically the evidence to date refutes the particular notion. And since we’re all smart we know that empirical patterns do not mean something “always” or “never” happens. For example, one childfree myth says that […]

Why I Don’t Want to be a Mom…or an Astronaut

Today’s childfree story is brought to you by Rachel. She brilliantly explains why she doesn’t want to be a mom… or an astronaut. Rachel’s Childfree Story Growing up with my older sister, we loved to play with three things: Barbies, Legos and these huge “Dress Up” bins my mom had filled with old clothes, hats […]

Gay and Childfree

Running Shoes

I just ordered a new pair of running shoes for the first time in about 4 years. Exciting news, right? Not really, but it did get me thinking about why its been so long. You see, when Amy and I moved to Maine from Minneapolis we were both pretty avid runners. I’ve run a couple […]

Give Us A {childfree} Reason

It’s w{n}hab!’s birthday and to celebrate we thought a little contest was in order! With prizes even! The Set Up There are a lot of reasons to remain childfree.
